Distraction Reduction
Summary:
In general terms, this IpLearn networked solution automatically prevents users from enjoying entertainment programs, such as non-educational games and videos, when they should be working on learning programs. This can be done, for example, by restricting mice or other electronic devices from working with the entertainment programs. The solution can be set to lift the restrictions at the proper time. This not only helps users avoid distractions during learning, it can also appropriately balance learning and entertainment for the users.
Features Include:
- Distinguishing between entertainment programs and learning programs.
- Restricting circuit boards, virtual machines, mice, speakers, memory devices, monitors, and/or other systems from working with entertainment programs, while simultaneously allowing them to work with learning programs.
- Restricting entertainment programs from accessing certain devices, for example, by modifying or replacing their device drivers.
- Removing the restriction automatically under certain predetermined conditions,
such as duration of time spent working on learning materials, level achieved in the learning materials, and time of day.
- Awarding tokens for learning progress and allowing tokens to be spent on entertainment programs.
