Learning Through Reviews

Summary:

In general terms, this IpLearn solution reinforces a user's understanding of a subject by closely tracking the user's learning progress and providing individually tailored review materials to the user. This process of providing dynamic review materials based on individual learning progress enriches learning by strengthening memory and building unmatched insight into the subject matter.

Features Include:

  • Tracking areas of a subject the user has successfully learned and areas the user has not yet learned based on assessing the user’s learning progress.

  • Providing detailed learning materials for new concepts and providing more condensed learning materials, such as summaries, to review previously learned subject areas.

  • Determining when to teach new concepts, reinforce previously learned areas, or alternate between teaching new concepts and reviewing previously learned areas.

  • Identifying areas to review based on criteria, such as user learning information and characteristics of the subject, for example:

    • Elapsed time since the user has learned an area can be used to:

      • Identify areas learned long enough ago that the user may have forgotten.

      • Avoid areas learned so recently that they should not yet be reviewed.

      • Avoid areas learned so long ago that the user has moved on to a more advanced area.

    • Mastery level achieved by the user and the time spent to achieve the level can be used to identify the user's weak areas and provide reviews to reinforce the user's understanding in those areas.

    • Difficulty level of areas can be used to identify those areas that need to be reviewed more frequently.

    • Relationship among areas and their degree of relatedness can be used to identify review areas closely related to a recently learned area, creating a deeper understanding of the subject.

    • Identifying the number of times an area has been previously reviewed to avoid excessive redundancy in reviewing certain areas.
